IAN PAICE 'ON THE DRUMS'

dvd details

IAN PAICE is without doubt one of the world's premier rock drummers. His reputation was established back in the early seventies with DEEP PURPLE, a band he still works and tours with regularly. His skills also took WHITESNAKE to the top of the charts in the ealy eighties. He then worked with GARY MOORE before rejoining PURPLE in 1984. When time allows, Ian Paice does the occasional session - and when PAUL McCARTNEY wanted to record and gig with a rock and roll set, Ian Paice was top of his list of candidates. Ian Paice frequently plays drum clinics - in Italy, Australia and Europe. These allow fans and drummers to witness his technique up close, watch as he demonstrates riffs, and fire questions at him.

It was during Deep Purple's 2001/2002 tour that - in response to many requests - Ian Paice came up with plans for a DVD release which would enable people to study his playing style and technique in detail. The end result is one for Ian Paice and Deep Purple fans to get their teeth into, covering as it does both detailed technical information backed up by clips of his live work with a number of bands, and specially filmed sessions. Previously available only at gigs and via mail order, the DVD is finally available through regular distribution channels with new packaging.

The two hour running time is divided into different section for ease of use: Section 1: A Drummer's Guide. Ian Paice personally takes the viewer through every aspect of his kit. A unique 50 minute documentary which also demonstrates a number of drumming tips that'll be useful to both experienced and prospective drummers.

Section 2: Live At Abbey Road. Ian Paice with friends Colin Hodgkinson and Miller Anderson playing live in Abbey Road's famous studio.

Section 3: Roadie View. Unique footage filmed during Deep Purple's 2001 USA tour giving a roadie's eye view of the drummer on stage, showing drum solos in close-up, how to deal with monitor problems, and dropped sticks etc. The section also includes complete versions of Ted The Mechanic / Lazy / Knockin' At Your Back Door / Highway Star.

Section 4: The Drum Clinic. A specially filmed Ian Paice drum clinic, with solos, interviews and questions from the audience.
